Charys Hess is a BA graduate of the University Wisconsin Stevens Point Theater and Dance department. Hess has studied dance under Jim Moore, Susan Gingrasso, Adriane Fang, Pamela Luedtke, Joan Karlen, Jeannie Hill, Michael Estanich, Mary Fehrenbach, Jodi Flatoff, and Marilou Meyers. Hess has worked with dance companies such as Susan Marshall and Doug Varone on choreographic, performance or intensive opportunities. Hess’ choreography has been presented and adjudicated at the American College of Dance Festival. Hess’ multi-media work has been showcased in local productions like Dance For Cancer, The Happenings, and Toast To The Arts. Site specific work has been presented in local venues as well. Hess founded the Transcribing Dance Company, a post-modern dance company for professional dancers in June of 2012. TDC has been well received by the Minnesota Fringe Festival and MDAF. TDC performs annually throughout the area and surrounding areas. Hess continues to direct, present, and dance with her company to create work which can be appreciated by the general public, yet set new standards in the art of dance.
